Review: Museum Tower Apartments

225 S Olive St
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Are you considering a relocation and contemplating the Museum Tower Apartments? Don’t. Let’s see. Did you read the propaganda about being close to the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Disney Concert Hall? Did the outdoor pictures look pretty enough? The reality of the situation is that this apartment complex is dreadfully managed.

The elevators are constantly breaking down. The underground parking structure is often full and management does nothing to enforce permit use. What’s worse than coming home and being unable to park your car? The MOCA likes to stage frequent parties outside which involve blasting music so loudly and so far past city ordinance hours that, even with the windows shut and television volume up, you can’t help but rock along. Windows have to remain closed because of all the pigeon excrement accumulating on the window sills. The balconies are covered in dust and really quite useless except for smokers. The wallpaper and the newly installed tiling in the elevator banks really make one wonder what sort of half-wit selected out the colors and styles.

With so many apartment options available in downtown Los Angeles, I highly recommend against Museum Towers. Come on, how often are you really going to head over to the MOCA and the Disney Concert Hall. Instead, find a nice, new, comparably priced or cheaper apartment closer to the Nokia Center. On the rare occasions you want to catch a concert or a musical, take a cab up. You won’t be missing much and avoiding plenty.

2009.02.22 - Night of 100 Stars & the Billboard After Party

This year, we were invited to attend the Night of 100 Stars Academy Awards viewing party and the Billboard After Party at the Beverly Hilton. Needless to say, it was an entertaining evening with a highlight on the philanthropic efforts of Children Uniting Nations and the Black Eyed Peas. However, Tiff and I chose to depart not too long after the celebrities began to appear — around 10ish. Who else but celebrities can party til the wee hours on a Sunday night?

2009.02.14 - Valentine’s Day

This year we enjoyed a perfectly portioned three course meal at Maison Akira in Pasadena, followed by snacks and spirits in the comforts of home. There is a touching story that goes along with the gift basket, but that is a tale for another time. Suffice it to say that Tiff is a sweetheart.
